EU RESOURCE CENTER PRESENTED TO CIVIL SOCIETY AT THE INFO SESSION IN NIŠ

After Belgrade and Novi Sad, the largest number of civil society organizations is registered in the territory of Nis – 1,289 of them. Therefore, in addition to the national resource center in Belgrade, one of the regional centers will be in Nis. Representatives of the EURC project began their cooperation with organizations from our region by presenting support mechanisms and open discussion to get to know the specific needs of civil society as an active participant in the process of Serbia’s EU integration.

“The EURC project was designed as a support mechanism for civil society, focused on the process of reforming and presenting solutions and policies that improve the society in which we live. The support within the project is concrete and available to organizations and informal initiatives from all over Serbia,” said Bojana Džulović, manager of the EURC project for civil society in Serbia.

“For ENECA, it is a great honor but an even greater responsibility that in the next four years it will be the regional EU Resource Center for civil society organizations from southern and eastern Serbia. We have the task of being an incubator for the growth and development of the non-governmental sector in this part of Serbia through training, and mentoring, but also direct financial support for organizations, informal groups, and civil society organizations that will play the role of intermediary organizations. Bearing in mind our expertise and extensive experience gained in the previous 18 years, at the national level we will help organizations dealing with competition policy, consumer protection, and economic development to create Strategies and Action Plans as well as to engage in active public advocacy. We are sure that together with the Belgrade Open School and other partners we will manage to make a significant step forward and create a favorable environment for civil society organizations that represent a key sector and factor for improving the lives of citizens,” said Milivoje Jovanović, ENECA.

At the meeting in Nis, it was pointed out that the first grants within the project will be available from May 15. You can find all the information on the website www.euresurscentar.bos.rs.

During its four-year duration, the project will empower at least 300 civil society organizations and 280 informal groups and enable them to contribute to the implementation and monitoring of reforms in the process of Serbia joining the EU. Support to civil society will include not only a program of financial support but also a program of strengthening internal capacities through training and individual mentoring.
