In June 2012, ENECA started the implementation of the project “Economic Empowerment as a means of integrating refugees, internally displaced persons and returnees” funded by the European Union through the Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of Serbia with the financial participation of municipalities and cities in which the project is implemented.

The project is based on contributing to solving the problems of refugees, internally displaced persons and returnees in the Republic of Serbia by increasing their employment opportunities through support for income-generating activities. Also, basic and professional trainings are provided, as well as monitoring and counseling of supported beneficiaries.

Assistance in resolving the problems of refugees, internally displaced persons and returnees will be provided exclusively within the existing national and local strategies with the significant participation of the Commissariat for Refugees of the Republic of Serbia and local authorities in the decision-making process.

The project will support 80 beneficiaries in their intentions to start or expand their business activity through:

1. Donations in the form of equipment and / or materials with an average value of up to 2,000.00, EUR;

2. Organizing business and professional trainings in accordance with the needs of supported users;

3. Business consulting.

ENECA will, in consultation with the municipalities and the Commissariat for Refugees of the Republic of Serbia, select the beneficiaries of the Project. Special attention will be paid to vulnerable categories of the population, refugees, displaced persons and returnees, as well as a smaller number of socially vulnerable local population.
